- A Quest for Knowledge
Curiosity is an inborn trait of every student. If properly nurtured, this trait can give birth to new inventions and discoveries. Keeping in mind, this very fact, under the guidance of respected Principal Sir and school co-ordinator Bharti Ma’am, the CDS school conducted the Prayas Exhibition 2016 on the 20th of August. ‘Prayas’ means efforts and ironically the ‘Prayas Exhibition’ reflects the efforts put in by the High School students under the guidance of the subject teachers. The Chief Guest for the exhibition was Mrs. Sahariya. Director Ma’am and the Chief guest were the judges of this exhibition. The week preceding the exhibition was spent in preparing charts and models for the exhibition. One look at any class of the eighth, ninth and tenth standards and all the students would be seen engrossed in making charts, some students would be seen closely inspecting a chart on symmetry while others would be lost in thought as to how to make the charts more beautiful and models more innovative. A tremendous display of unity was shown as all the high school students stood by each other in making their endeavours fruitful. Charts on Biology outnumbered charts on Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Hindi and English. Models were prepared and experiments were performed. Five groups performed experiments on how to make a homemade soap, elephant toothpaste, tests for hydrogen chloride gas, making of plastic and how to make homemade ice cream without the use of refrigerator. Exemplary models were prepared using the basic laws of Physics – ranging from projectors to motor boats. In the week preceding the Prayas Exhibition several clubs were formed for carrying out extra-curricular activities like Electrical Club, Eco-Club, Science Club, Reading Club etc. All the high school students lent their hands in making socially productive things and put their best foot forward in making the exhibition successful. At the end, there were three winners, as declared by the judges – Harshit Maheswari and Aditya Sohia of X-A for their models, Smriti Jha of X-B for her chart on the various cell organelles present in an animal cell and Ruchita Burde of IX-B for a drawing competition organised for the high school students – for which the topic was “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. CDS strives to provide for an all-round development of its students and these endeavours of the students reflect the technology and also highlight the opinions of students regarding social issues keeping the motto of CDS alive – “Every Child is a Winner”, we hope to let the students ‘prayas’ make the banner of the school fly high………
